Harpsichordist - Harpist - Baroque music |
[11 Mar 2008|10:11pm] |
Salut! I'm organizing a Baroque/Rococo costume ball to take place this summer in New York City, and I'd like to book a harpsichordist and/or harpist to perform for the occasion. A string quartet available to perform some Baroque pieces would also be great. If you are a musician or can recommend someone who would be able to fill the role, I would love to hear from you. Thanks!

Shave your head for art! |
[24 Feb 2008|04:09pm] |
I am looking a woman who is willing to shave their head (or cut their hair very short) for a short, experimental film. The scene will be done in a bathtub so comfort with partial/full nudity is a plus but not necessary.
The project is going to be shot the weekend of March 1st (exact day/time is flexible). I can't pay, but copy and credit will be provided as well as transportation (we will be shooting in New York, NY) and snacks for the shoot. The crew is small and the shoot will be laid back, fun, and creative.
Please email me for more details or if interested- sb1956@nyu.edu
Thanks!

Ljova's interactive BABY naming contest. |
[23 Jan 2008|12:00pm] |
What in the horror world is this? -- Why, it's a picture of my brand new baby. I'm anxious to denounce any rumors that its immaculate conception belongs to my wife, or J-Lo. But what should we call it? That, my friends, is up to you - see below, and thank you!
This new baby is a 6-stringed acoustic instrument, made by the excellent Eric Aceto of Ithaca, NY. On its belly, it carries the strings of a viola (C-G-D-A), the violin (G-D-A-E) and a super-low string (F), one pitch higher than the bottom note of the guitar. Size-wise, it's taller than a violin but shorter than a viola, clocking in at 14 inches.
So what should we call it? I'd like to propose a baby-naming contest. For all details, see my blog.
Enjoy!
best, Ljova (Juilliard alum)

Enter.. The SoupASonic! |
[18 Nov 2006|09:41am] |
Dear LJ friends,
Please welcome thesoupasonic!
I've decided to start a more "professional" blog, one which will concentrate more heavily on music, gear, and soup. This blog (WhatMePractice) will continue to serve as a vehicle (ventricle) for more off-topic, embarassing things.
If you want to read the new blog, please add TheSoupASonic to your friends.
See you out there!

I'm writing a story, and the sister of my main character just got accepted to Juilliard, and another important character is also going there. This means I have to find out a few things about the place.
What is the food like? Is there a dress code students have to follow? (one of the characters is from a rather poor background, and doesn't have a suit.) Do you really have to share your bedroom with someone else? What colour are the walls? Is there carpet or tiles? Do students do much mingling with the students from other disciplines? What can a dancer expect from their first week at Juilliard?
